General Info

Nebraska's original Mud Run has become a running tradition attracting participants from throughout the Midwest. The spectator friendly 3-Mile and 6-Mile courses feature music, obstacles, a creek crossing, and multiple mud pits. In addition to the 3-Mile and 6-Mile events the race includes a tethered 3-person team division and as always the Mini-Mud Run.

After the race, there will be multiple outdoor shower stations available for the racers to de-mud. After getting rid of all the mud, participants are welcome to dump your dirty shoes into multiple bins located near the showers. All the shoes left behind will be donated to Green Sneakers, an organization that distributes shoes throughout the world to people in need.

Post-race festivities - including food, drinks, music and awards - will be held in Pavilion 1. Participants are welcome to hang out after the race and enjoy time with good friends, family and other runners. Every adult runner gets a free pint of the Modern Monks’ “Mud Run Mild”!

Course Overview

Distances are not exact. Courses are approximately 6 miles, 3 miles and 1 mile.

All courses include obstacles and mud pits, and the 3-Mile and 6-Mile courses include creek crossings. These elements add to the event, but can cause congestion, so please be patient. Faster runners competing for medals should start near the front of their wave to avoid lines at the obstacles. Non-competitive runners--especially those caught by a runner or team from a subsequent wave--are advised to make way for faster and more competitive runners, especially at the obstacles. However, no cutting in line is allowed.

At the main mud pit, please DO NOT go down the slip-n-slide head first. The mud pit is not very deep and sliding down head first could result in serious injury.

All runners should review the course maps and be aware of obstacle and aid station locations.

All obstacles are designed to be fun. If, at any time, you are not comfortable with an obstacle, there are exit locations available for you to go around the obstacle. If you choose not to participate in an obstacle, you must wait on the other side until the person who was in front of you completes it. No cheating! This rule does not apply to creek crossings...creek crossings are mandatory. There are no other ways around the creeks.

Chip Timing

Chip timing will be used for the 3-Mile and 6-Mile participants. The Mini Mud Run will not be timed, so no chips are needed for mini runners. Participants will tie the chip into their shoe laces to make sure it does not get ripped off in the mud pits. For tethered teams, the chip needs to be attached to the middle runner.

There will be volunteers stationed near the finish line to retrieve the chips.

Runner Packets & Awards

Every participant will receive a Mud Run ‘13 shirt, a free beverage at the after-party and other sponsor gifts in their athlete packet.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the following age groups in the individual run for Male 3-Mile, Male 6-Mile, Female 3-Mile and Female 6-Mile: 19 & under, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60 & over.

Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to each team member of the top three teams in the following divisions: Male, Female and Mixed.

All Mini Mud Runners will receive a participation medal after crossing the finish line.

Participants that pick up their packets on Thursday or Friday DO NOT need to check-in the morning of the race. Simply arrive Saturday morning prior to the 9:50 pre-race announcements with your chip and bib number ready to run.
